Ranchi: Munshi Bhupendra Yadav, who was supervising the bridge being built on Harhu drain in McCluskieganj, Ranchi, was shot dead in broad daylight. Two armed extremists carried out this incident at the construction site at 12.30 pm on Thursday. Bhupendra was a resident of Balumath police station area of Latehar district. The workers engaged in the construction told that the casting of the bridge was going on. Meanwhile, two extremists arrived and first shot Bhupendra in the leg. After that two bullets were fired in the waist and two in the hand.
Yadav was injured due to the bullet. The police, who reached on the information, sent Bhupendra to RIMS, but he died on the way. It is being told that levy was demanded in the name of PLFI earlier also. A case has been registered against unknown Naxalites in the matter. Ranchi’s Rural SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal said that raids are being conducted to arrest the extremists.
On getting information about the incident, Ranchi Rural SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal reached the spot and inquired about the whole matter. He said that the contractor did not inform the police about starting the work, otherwise the work would have been started in the presence of the police. During this, the local police officer, family members and laborers were also questioned about the incident and the police was given necessary instructions to arrest the extremists.
Deceased Bhupendra Yadav’s son Uday Yadav had brought a truck to load the goods at the bridge construction site. At the time of the incident, the son was in the truck. When he came out after hearing the gunshot, he saw his father Bhupendra Yadav lying injured below.
On Tuesday night, during the bridge construction work, the extremists had beaten up the laborers at this site and after firing, warned them to stop the work. Even after that, the contractor started the work on Thursday without police protection. The result of which was that the extremists shot and killed the clerk.
