Murder accused arrested after being on the run for 14 years

New Delhi (IANS) | The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested a murder accused in Paharganj area. Who was absconding for the last 14 years. The police gave this information on Saturday. Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, H.G.S. Dhaliwal said that the accused has been identified as Vikas Mendiratta, a resident of Ramesh Nagar. A reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for information leading to the development.

According to the police, the Special Cell had received information about the absconding criminal Vikas, after which continuous efforts were made to collect his exact location. It was also learned that he was evading arrest for the past 14 years by regularly changing his location.

Dhaliwal said that on June 21 specific inputs were received and Vikas was arrested from Major Pankaj Batra Road in Delhi.

During interrogation, it was revealed that in the year 2008, Vikas along with his associates had beaten up Sajjauddin. After this he was thrown from the building, due to which he died.

The Special CP said that though his associates Mahendra Singh, Surendra Saini and Tarun Bhalla were arrested in the case, he was absconding. The accused further stated that he was frequently changing his locations to evade his arrest.
