Surat: A cholera patient has been found in Jagdish Nagar of Varachha zone of Surat Municipality and the municipality is searching. Of the 10 patients admitted for treatment, the condition of all has improved, which has brought relief to the municipal corporation system. Even on the second day after the cholera case was registered, the Municipal Corporation’s health team remained alert in Jagdish Nagar, but not a single patient came forward.

After the problem of dirty water, cases of diarrhea and vomiting have been reported in Jagdish Nagar falling in Varachha zone of the municipality. A 14-year-old girl was reported to be infected with cholera. Due to this the municipality started running. The municipality also conducted a cleanliness drive in the area, and also sent water tankers and distributed chlorine tablets. All the patients of the area have been admitted to the municipality-run Smeer Hospital for treatment and the municipality team is continuously monitoring them.

However, no new patient has emerged and the condition of the admitted patients is also improving and there is a possibility of being discharged by the evening. Despite such a situation, a team of Municipal Corporation Health Department has been deployed in Jagdish Nagar area and they are keeping an eye on the situation.
