Mumbai: Man arrested for selling SIM cards without KYC using iris scan

Maharashtra : The Crime Branch Unit 2 has arrested a 34-year-old man who was allegedly selling SIM cards without completing the mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) process. The accused, Yusuf Ali Syed, a resident of Antop Hill, was nabbed near Mankhurd railway station on Friday after the police laid a trap using a fake customer.

Based on a tip-off, the Crime Branch found that Syed was selling SIM cards at high prices without following the procedure. According to the FIR, he used to scan the customer’s iris and give SIMs at Rs 500 per card without proper documentation.
