Mumbai Indians start preparations for IPL 2023

Mumbai| Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have started their preparations for the upcoming season of IPL 2023 here. The team had its first outdoor season, which included on-field sessions as well as evaluations, before the season began with players, coaching staff and support staff arriving.

The session was led by head coach Mark Boucher, who was debuting with Mumbai Indians, with the coaching team of Shane Bond, bowling coach and fielding coach James Pamment, guiding and supporting the players in their first training.

In his first team address on the ground before training, Mumbai Indians head coach, Mark Boucher explained how he expected the group to focus in the initial sessions as the players and coach got to know each other better.

The first few days are more about getting to know the teammates, understanding the playing style, fitness levels and laying the groundwork for technical training,” Boucher said in a media release issued by the franchise.

We can’t do anything in cricket without a base so the next set of training sessions will be to build a base and evaluate ourselves, chat with coaches and focus on technical training, cricketing skills and skill sets . There will be some nervousness and that is absolutely okay, it is natural. I want us to enjoy ourselves.

Indian players Piyush Chawla, Tilak Verma, Hrithik Shokeen, Kumar Kartikeya Singh, Mohd Arshad Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Arjun Tendulkar, Raghav Goyal, Vishnu Vinod, Akash Madhwal, Dewald Brewis, Dwayne Johnson Key and Shams Mulani in the first training session There was an international pairing as well.

On the other hand, batting coach Kieron Pollard is all set to join the training sessions in the coming days.

Mumbai Indians will play their first match of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 2 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
