Maharashtra Maharashtra: Sunday morning remained partly cloudy in Mumbai even as the city witnessed hot and humid weather. Due to the delay in the arrival of monsoon, Mumbaikars are facing increasing heat and humidity. The city’s temperature was recorded around 32 degrees Celsius in the morning, making the beginning of the day quite hot.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted similar weather conditions for the coming days. According to the department, hot and humid weather will continue in Mumbai at present, although the possibility of light rain and occasional thundershowers in some areas has not been ruled out. Weather experts say that this rain will be limited and temporary.
According to the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), the weather is likely to remain dry in the city on Sunday, but both temperature and humidity will remain at high levels. Temperatures are expected to range between 30 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius during the day, while humidity could reach around 67 percent. This will make people feel more of the sticky heat.
Light drizzle has been recorded in parts of Mumbai and its surrounding Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) in the last few days. However, meteorologists have clarified that this rain does not yet signal the official and complete onset of the south-west monsoon. Right now the conditions are not considered completely favorable for the actual progress of monsoon.
According to experts, there are occasional light rains or cloud movements due to sea breezes and local atmospheric conditions, but this does not amount to the establishment of a monsoon system. Due to this, there may be fluctuations in the weather in the coming days also.
Due to increasing heat and humidity in the city, people are facing difficulty in going out during the day. The combination of temperature and humidity makes the situation more difficult, especially in the afternoon. The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to drink enough water and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Weather experts say that the weather in Mumbai may remain unstable for the next few days, with hot and humid conditions with the possibility of light rain. We may have to wait longer for the actual onset of monsoon.
