Mumbai high-rise building accident: Crane falls from 13th floor, killing one person

Mumbai: A 20-year-old worker was killed and three others were injured after a crane suddenly fell from the 13th floor of an under-construction tower in Mumbai on Thursday evening. The horror unfolded at JP North society in Mira Road (East), causing panic amongst residents and passers-by.

The deceased has been identified as Mujammil Khokhar.

Emergency teams have been deployed to the scene and rescue and relief operations are underway. Police have also reached the spot.

As per reports, the crane fell on cars and bikes parked in the residential complex. Horrific videos from the scene showed vehicles crushed under the collapsed crane.

The exact cause of the collapse has not yet been ascertained.

BJP MLA Narendra Mehta confirmed the incident, saying, “A construction crane fell into the residential society. As of now one person has died and investigations are on to find how the crane fell.”
