MUMBAI: Fire breaks out in Kamala Mills Compound for the third time in five years

Mumbai: A fire broke out in the Times Tower building in Lower Parel West, Mumbai on Friday morning. According to officials, no casualties have been reported so far in the fire that broke out at 6.47 am. Fire tenders rushed to the spot as soon as the incident was reported. According to officials, firefighters used chisel hammers to break the locks of doors of offices from the second floor to the 14th floor. A fire official present at the spot said, “The fire has been completely controlled now. We are examining the injured in the incident. We faced difficulties due to smoke and ventilation, but our officers went inside and wore fire fighting equipment.” He also said, “We are checking the fire audit.” Speaking to media persons on the incident, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Sandeep Deshpande said, “This is the third time in five years that a fire has broken out in the Kamala Mills compound. There has been no fire audit of the building.” He alleged that public representatives of the area are involved in supporting illegal construction. He said, “Illegal construction is increasing day by day in the Kamla Mills complex. The local MLA is supporting illegal construction. Action should be taken against those responsible. Why are public representatives supporting illegal construction?” Ambulances and police are also engaged in the fire extinguishing operation. Further investigation is underway.
