Punjab: Police here claimed to have solved the murder case of a 54-year-old man of Baja Marar village. The deceased was killed while on his way to Chandigarh near Marar Kalan village. Police have arrested his son and claimed that he committed the murder. Muktsar SSP Tushar Gupta said that the suspect Pyarjit Singh (29) had fabricated a false story that some armed assailants stopped their car and killed his father Labhjit Singh (58) with sharp weapons while they were on their way to Chandigarh to see a doctor. The SSP said, “During investigation, we found out that the suspect had lost Rs 25 lakh in online gambling but he hid it from his father. He had told his father that he had invested the money in a business in Chandigarh which got stuck there. When his father planned to go to Chandigarh, Pyarjit was afraid that his father would come to know about the loss so he killed him. The suspect has been arrested and the knife used to commit the crime has also been recovered.”
