Punjab: 31 government senior secondary schools in Muktsar district are running without regular principals. There are a total of 88 government senior secondary schools in the district. In these schools, the additional charge of principal has been given to the principals of neighboring schools. At present, the education department officials are waiting for the promotion of some teachers as principals. A school teacher said that the principal is the head of the school, so this post should not be left vacant. A government school teacher said, ‘In the absence of a regular principal, the staff becomes careless. Apart from this, if a teacher is given the additional charge of principal, then he is not able to work like a regular principal. This also affects the teaching work of that teacher.’ On this, Muktsar District Education Officer Jaspal Monga said, ‘The posts of principals are vacant in 31 government senior secondary schools, but the posts of principals are filled in all primary, middle and high schools. Apart from this, the state government will soon fill the vacant posts by appointing new teachers and promoting the existing staff.’ The government senior secondary schools without principals are located in Gulabewala, Kanianwali, Man Singh Wala, Khokhar, Harike Kalan, Kotli Ablu, Sukhna Ablu, Chhateana, Kotbhai, Ramgarh Chungha, Chak Shere Wala, Rupana (boys school), Sotha, Giljewala, Bhundad, Fakkarsar Thehri, Malout (boys school), Doda, Gidderbaha (boys school), Gidderbaha (girls school), Muktsar (boys school), Badal, Waring Kheda, Panniwala Fatta, Phullu Kheda, Gurusar, Channu, Fatuhi Kheda, Ghumiyara, Kaoni and Singhewala.
