Chennai: For the Phase 2 metro rail construction works at Vanuvampettai-Medavakkam Kootu Road junction on Medavakkam main road, the MTC plans to operate 30 small buses from Wednesday after heavy vehicular traffic diversion on the route. An official release said that bus routes number 18D, 18P, M1 and 45ACT from Kilkattalai via Madipakkam and Kavalli will be operated from Madipakkam bus terminus from Wednesday. Route number 14M (from Medavakkam Kootu Road to NGO Colony via Kilkattalai) will now be diverted to Guindy railway station via Eachangadu, Kamatchi Hospital, Kavalli. For the benefit of passengers on the 14M route, the MTC will operate 25 small buses – S14M – at normal fares. It will also run 5 small buses M1CT from Kilkattalai bus terminus to Velachery via Madipakkam, Kavalli.
MTC said that routes No. 76, 76B, V51 and V51X running on Medavakkam Kootu Road, Kilkattalai, Madipakkam and Kavalli will be diverted via Medavakkam Kootu Road, Eachangadu, Kamatchi Hospital and Kavalli. Routes No. M18C, 18N and N45B running from Kilkattalai towards Moovarasanpettai, Nanganallur and Alandur Metro will start from Moovarasanpettai Bus Terminus. CMRL has started phase 2 construction in Corridor 5 line from Madhavaram to Sholinganallur which passes through Medavakkam Main Road. Construction work is underway for 3 metro stations – Kilkattalai, Madipakkam and Puzhuthivakkam – on Medavakkam main road. The MTC said that due to ongoing construction work at the Vanuvampettai-Medavakkam Koottu road junction on the Medavakkam main road, heavy vehicle traffic has been diverted as per the request of CMRL.
