MP-skydiver pair sets new record by jumping from 5,200 feet

Chandigarh (IANS) | The Aero Club of India organized the National Aero Modeling Fellowship event at Haryana’s Pinjore airport, where MP Kirti Vardhan Singh on Sunday created a new national achievement by hanging India’s famous woman skydiver Padmashree Sheetal Mahajan from a hang-glider of 5,200 feet. Made a record. Sheetal is from Pune. This is the first time in India that an Indian woman skydiver has jumped from a powered hang-glider, piloted by a Member of Parliament.

The daring duo performed two parachute drops from 5,200 ft and 4,200 ft and one parachute drop from 4,100 ft from powered hang-gliders on April 8 and 9 respectively.

The Aero Modeling Fellowship program was organized by the Aero Club of India, which represents the Federation of Aeronautical Internationale in India.

The FAI, which is affiliated with the Olympic Association, acts as a governing body by controlling the rules of the world’s aero sports and organizes world championships and world cups such as skydiving and parachuting and 14 more aero sports around the world.

The event witnessed a number of aero modeling enthusiasts and experienced aero models from across the country who left the audience awestruck by showcasing their amazing aero modeling skills.
