MP: Sister raped and murdered, mother and siblings helped to hide the matter

Rewa, Madhya Pradesh: Police probing the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh on April 24 have found that her teenage brother sexually assaulted and then killed her after watching pornographic videos on mobile, following which her mother and her two elder sisters helped hush up the matter, an official said. Police cracked the case and detained the victim’s 13-year-old brother, her mother and her 17 and 18-year-old sisters based on questioning of 50 people, intensive interrogation of the accused and technical evidence, they said on Saturday. Giving details of the case, Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh said, “On April 24, a nine-year-old girl was raped and strangulated to death in Jawa police station area, following which the police registered a case and started investigation.” “The victim’s body was recovered from the courtyard of her house, where she was sleeping at the time of the incident,” he said. After intensive interrogation of the family members, it was revealed that the victim’s 13-year-old brother slept beside her at night. He said it was revealed that the teenage boy raped his sister after watching pornographic videos on mobile phone. When the victim threatened to tell her father, the boy strangled her and later woke up her mother and told her everything. Then she found that the victim was still alive. Singh said that seeing this, the accused strangled her again. Meanwhile, her two elder sisters also woke up and they changed their bed places before informing the police to mislead the investigation. However, they finally confessed to their crime after repeated interrogation. The officer said that further legal action is being taken after taking the boy, his two sisters and their mother into custody. Singh said that on the morning of April 24, the police received information that the girl’s body was lying in the courtyard of the house. The post-mortem report found evidence related to rape and murder and an SIT team was formed to investigate. He said that to mislead the investigators, the family members told the police that the girl died due to the bite of some poisonous insect. He said that investigation revealed that there was no sign of anyone entering the house and the family members also denied hearing any sound at night. The SP said that after gathering technical evidence and questioning 50 people, the police found frequent changes in the statements of the family members. They were questioned intensively on the basis of suspicion, after which they confessed to the crime.
