MP: Robbery of ₹29.65 lakh from scrap trading employee solved; 3 arrested, including an ex-serviceman.

Madhya Pradesh: In a major operation on Wednesday, the police arrested three individuals in connection with the robbery of ₹29.65 lakh from an employee of a scrap trading firm. Among the arrested accused is an ex-serviceman, who allegedly masterminded the heist due to financial distress and losses incurred in cryptocurrency trading.

According to police officials, the incident occurred on June 11 while Mukul Agarwal, an employee of the scrap trading firm, was collecting cash payments from various business establishments on behalf of his employer. After a day’s work, he had collected a total of ₹29.65 lakh in cash and was transporting the money in a bag on his two-wheeler.

The accused allegedly targeted him as part of a pre-planned scheme and robbed him of the bag containing the cash. The employee immediately informed the police following the incident, leading to the registration of a case and the commencement of an investigation.

Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh stated that the accused were traced using technical evidence, CCTV footage, and an informant network. The investigation revealed that an ex-serviceman played the key role in plotting the robbery.

It is alleged that the ex-serviceman planned the crime after suffering heavy losses in cryptocurrency trading and falling into debt. Distressed by his financial crisis, he reportedly decided to execute the robbery with the help of his accomplices.

According to the police, the three accused had conducted reconnaissance and monitored the employee’s movements. They were aware that he regularly collected cash from various locations and executed the crime based on this information.

Following the arrests, the police have begun interrogating the accused to determine if others were involved or if the incident is linked to a larger criminal network.

The police stated that efforts are underway to recover the entire stolen amount, and further legal proceedings in the case are ongoing.

This incident has also raised questions regarding security arrangements for businesses in the area. The police say that surveillance and patrolling will be further strengthened to prevent such incidents.
