Bhopal: A policeman lost his life after being shot while chasing a group of criminals in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni district. The incident occurred on Thursday night when a police team chased the criminals traveling in a truck. While chasing the criminals, Police Station Officer Rakesh Thakur, who was leading the police team, was shot in the chest by an accused. Thakur died during treatment at a hospital in Nagpur city of neighboring Maharashtra, an official said. On Thursday night, following a robbery case, a police team chased the criminals going towards Chhindwara in a van. Officials said that three accused were caught on the spot, while the person who opened fire against the police escaped. Seoni Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Singh said that the police chief died of a heart attack during treatment. It said the three accused have been identified as Pradyumna Vaishnav (24), Gulshan Das Vaishnav (34) and Janak Singh Khanna (46). He said efforts were being made to detain the fourth accused, identified as Saddam. On Thursday, Narensh Sharma (52), an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), was ambushed and killed by an SUV traveling at full speed without paying for fuel in Chhindwara. Sharma tried to stop the conductor at the control post, but the accused hit him.
