MP: Cyclonic system impacts, storm and rain alert issued

Madhya Pradesh: A strong weather system, formed by a cyclonic circulation and a trough, has become active in many parts of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain in Bhopal, Gwalior, and approximately 45 districts for the next 24 hours.

According to meteorologists, one trough is passing through the central part of the state, while another trough is active in the upper regions. Additionally, two cyclonic systems are active in the western and northern parts, increasing the strength of the entire weather system. This is causing instability and rapid changes in the weather.

Saturday morning, rain accompanied by strong winds lashed Satna district, while Maihar also recorded rain. Narmadapuram experienced light showers, while Seoni experienced drizzle. The Meteorological Department stated that these initial rains are the result of a cyclonic system over the state, and that more intense winds and lightning are expected in many areas in the coming hours.

A yellow alert for hail and rain has been issued in the northern Madhya Pradesh districts of Jabalpur, Chhatarpur, Panna, Damoh, and Katni. This alert applies to areas where there is a high likelihood of sudden rain and hail accompanied by strong winds.

An orange alert for thunderstorms and rain has also been issued for several districts, including Bhopal, Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, and Guna. The Meteorological Department has advised residents of these districts to remain vigilant and safe. Under the orange alert, there is a possibility of strong winds, lightning, and heavy rain, so people should be cautious while traveling in open areas.

An orange alert has also been issued for districts such as Ashoknagar, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Sehore, Harda, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Betul, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Sagar, Vidisha, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Shahdol, Sidhi, Singrauli, Mauganj, Rewa, Satna, Maihar, Niwari, and Tikamgarh. Strong winds, lightning, and thunderstorms are likely in these areas.

Meteorologists have urged citizens to follow safety precautions during this period. Try to stay indoors, be cautious when traveling in open areas, and move to a safe place in case of lightning. Also, avoid going near trees and power poles.

According to the Meteorological Department’s warning, this weather system will affect large parts of Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours. Farmers, the traffic department, and local administration have also been instructed to remain vigilant. Rain and strong winds can not only affect agriculture but also disrupt road traffic and power supply.

Therefore, the state government and the Disaster Management Department have advised citizens to remain vigilant and make necessary preparations.
