The police have arrested both accused and initiated further investigation into the matter.

Mohan Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Raiwala, stated that on September 22, Sanjay Pundir—a resident of Katal village, Bhogpur—lodged a complaint at the Raiwala police station. In the complaint, he mentioned that his mother, Khajani Devi (65), lived in a rented house in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony, Linepar Motichur. Her six-year-old granddaughter also lived with her.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene and began an investigation. Given the suspicious circumstances of the elderly woman’s death, the police collected necessary evidence from the site. Additionally, they questioned family members and local residents.

During the investigation, the police gathered details regarding the deceased’s family and property-related disputes. In the process, they obtained crucial information concerning the role of the deceased’s daughter. Consequently, the scope of the investigation was expanded to gather details about the daughter’s activities and her associates.

According to the police, the investigation revealed that the daughter was resentful about not receiving a share of the ancestral property. Furthermore, she was involved in a dispute with her mother over the sale of land. The police claim that driven by this resentment, she hatched a plan to eliminate her mother.

The investigation also brought to light the role of the woman’s lover. According to the police, the two had conspired together to murder Khajani Devi. Based on evidence related to the incident and subsequent questioning, the police took both individuals into custody. Following interrogation, both were formally arrested after their alleged involvement was established. The police are currently piecing together the sequence of events. The deceased, Khajani Devi, was living in a rented house in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony, located in the Linepar area of Motichur. Her six-year-old granddaughter also lived with her. Consequently, the police are conducting the investigation while keeping the child’s safety and the circumstances surrounding the case in mind.

In addition to physical evidence found at the crime scene, the police have incorporated technical and circumstantial facts into the investigation. Information regarding a property dispute emerged during the questioning of the deceased’s acquaintances and relatives. Based on this, the police have included the ongoing family dispute as a key aspect of the investigation.

According to the police, the daughter was upset with her mother over ancestral property. She had expected to receive a share of the property, but differences had arisen between the two regarding decisions concerning the land. The police allege that this dispute eventually escalated into a conspiracy to commit murder.

After an angle involving a romantic relationship surfaced during the investigation, the police also questioned the daughter’s lover. The police claim he was involved in the murder conspiracy. Information regarding the sequence of events was gathered by questioning both individuals—both separately and face-to-face.

The police are now investigating the link between the accused and the instruments used in the murder, as well as other pieces of evidence. Facts regarding the presence and activities of both accused individuals at the time of the incident have also been included in the investigation.

Following the revelation that a property dispute lay behind the elderly woman’s murder, the police have begun examining relevant documents and land-related information. This effort aims to clarify the nature of the family’s property dispute and determine how long it had been ongoing.

According to Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Mohan Singh, the deceased’s daughter and her lover have been arrested based on the available evidence and the investigation. Action is being taken against both individuals under the relevant sections of the law.
