New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that ever since the launch of “PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme”, more than 1 crore people have registered themselves under the scheme. So far 5 lakh people from Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have registered to avail the benefits of this scheme. PM Modi said, those who have not registered till now to take advantage of this scheme, should also get registered. He said, “The scheme promises substantial reduction in electricity expenses for households while ensuring energy production. It will also encourage environmentally friendly lifestyles on a large scale and contribute to a better planet.” Ready for.” The scheme provides subsidy of 60 percent of solar unit cost for systems up to 2 kW capacity and 40 percent subsidy of additional system cost for systems of 2 to 3 kW capacity. The subsidy has been limited to 3 kW capacity. Earlier, the Central Government had said that beneficiaries who consume up to 300 units of electricity will be able to save up to Rs 15,000. Interested consumers will have to register on the national portal to apply for the scheme. This has to be done by selecting the state and electricity distribution company. The project was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15 at a cost of Rs 75,021 crore.
