GJM has not revealed whether it will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for the Darjeeling seat, but has urged its supporters to come in large numbers for “nominations” on April 1.
At a party meeting here in Malidhura today, GJM president Bimal Gurung was heard requesting people to gather in large numbers on April 1.
“You should take out time and come out that day to save your community and your parents. Just as I am struggling between life and death, you all have not taken any risk, but I am not worried about it. I am only concerned about my community and the hills, for which we should meet on April 1. We should prepare all vehicles in villages and city area for our nomination,” Gurung said at the party meeting.
“We should give a good presentation that day with people coming not only from different parts of the Hills but also from the Terai region,” Gurung said, reiterating that they were going for “nomination” on April 1 and wanted That everyone should be ready.
However, Gurung did not reveal whether the Morcha would field any candidate or support any other party’s candidate.
BJP candidate Raju Bista is also going to file his nomination on April 1, hence speculations are rife that the Morcha may support him.
However, what cannot be ruled out are the recent developments with the Morcha’s youth wing offering Gurung to contest the elections himself.
