Mohali: The district health department has advised residents to take precautions to prevent dengue fever in view of the upcoming monsoon. Civil surgeon Dr Davinder Kumar and district epidemiologist Dr Subhash Kumar said teams of health workers were conducting door-to-door surveys in homes and other places, checking coolers, refrigerator trays, pots, empty tyres, boxes and other items and also making people aware about symptoms, causes, precautions and treatment of dengue. He said health officials have asked people not to allow water to accumulate anywhere in and around their homes. He said if dengue fever occurs, the patient should go to a government health facility where dengue testing and treatment is free.
