Mohali: The expansion work of the Chandigarh-Ambala national highway will be completed by July 2025 next year, said administration officials after a review meeting with National Highways Authority of India officials at the district administrative complex. The IT City to Kurali national highway will become operational by December this year and the Mohali-Sirhind national highway work will be completed by June 2025, said administration officials. The ongoing construction work of these national highways might cause some inconvenience to the public, but the NHAI officials have been urged to take care of these matters to minimize such problems. Similarly, cleaning of drains along the national highways should also be ensured so that there is smooth flow of rainwater. A special stormwater line is also being laid by the National Highways Authority to drain out water near Macdonald Point on Zirakpur-Dera Bassi highway, which will relieve the residents and travellers from the problem of stagnant water at this place for a long time. The DC was informed by the NHAI officials about the problems being faced with regard to the completion of ongoing projects in the district. Jain also issued directions to the district administration officials to resolve the issues raised by the NHAI on priority basis.
