Moderate rain likely in Tamil Nadu for 7 days

Tamil Nadu : The Chennai Meteorological Department has said that moderate rain is likely in Tamil Nadu for seven days from Wednesday (May 21).

The press release issued by the Center in this regard said: While conditions are favorable for the early arrival of the southwest monsoon in Kerala on May 24, rain is likely in the western foothill districts of Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, a low-level circulation persists over central West Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh-north Tamil Nadu coasts. Due to this, moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas from Wednesday (May 21) to May 27.

Chennai and Puducherry are likely to receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning in parts of the city on May 21.

Rainfall: In Tamil Nadu, till Tuesday morning, Hosur in Krishnagiri district recorded the highest rainfall of 120 mm, followed by Arakkonam (Ranipet), Danishpet (Salem) and Thenkanikottai (Krishnagiri) with 60 mm rainfall. Temperature rise: On Wednesday (May 21), maximum temperatures will be slightly below normal in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. From May 22 to May 24, maximum temperatures will be 3 degrees Celsius above normal.
