New Year was celebrated with enthusiasm and enthusiasm across Mizoram on Monday. People prayed in churches and participated in mass singing, while community feasts would be held the following day. Violating the prohibitory orders, many people also burst firecrackers to welcome the New Year. Chief Minister Lalduhoma greeted the people on this occasion. “Happy New Year 2024! New Year celebrations in Christian-majority Mizoram are usually two-day long, with most churches, including Presbyterian churches and Baptist churches, dedicating the first day to worship services, thanksgiving and prayers and community feasts will be held on Tuesday. In some local churches, New Year’s celebrations last for more than a week. Masses were held at midnight in all the churches and people from all sections of society participated in it. Defying the government’s ban on firecrackers to ensure a peaceful and pollution-free celebration, many people burst crackers and set off fireworks as soon as 12 o’clock struck. Police said no untoward incident was reported during the New Year celebrations.
