Minor gets life imprisonment for murdering stepmother in Ajania village

Sonbhadra: A court here on Wednesday convicted a minor and sentenced him to life imprisonment for the murder of his stepmother six years ago.

Public prosecutor Dinesh Prasad Agrahari stated that on September 19, 2019, Aniruddha Gupta, a resident of Ajaniya village, filed a written complaint at the Kon police station alleging that his daughter, Ragini (30), had been stabbed to death by her 17-year-old stepson.

According to the public prosecutor, Ragini had married Shivnarayan Gupta, a resident of Kachnarwa, about six years prior to the incident. Shivnarayan was already married at the time.
Agrahari stated that Shivnarayan and his first wife were not at home when the accused attacked Ragini with a knife, leaving her seriously injured and dying. The lawyer said that after hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court of Additional Sessions Judge (Juvenile) Amit Veer Singh found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000.
