NagarKurnool: State Excise and Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Wednesday performed special puja for motors and released water from Gudipallagattu balancing reservoir under Mahatma Gandhi Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme (MGKLIS) in Nagarkurnool district. More than two-thirds of the 3.65 lakh acre ayacut under the Kalwakurthy project gets water from the Gudipallagattu reservoir. District Collector Badavath Santosh, MLAs Dr. Kuchukulla Rajesh Reddy, Dr. Vamsi Krishna, Kasireddy Narayana Reddy and Mogha Reddy accompanied the minister in releasing water into the main canals of Nagarkurnool, Kalwakurthy and Achampet. Engineering officials said 650 cusecs of water would be released daily through a pump. On this occasion, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that with the grace of the rain god, arrangements are being made to provide irrigation water for two crops to the farmers of Kalwakurthy, Achampet and Nagar Kurnool assembly constituencies of the district. He informed that the Chief Minister of the state has taken steps to expedite the progress of the works during the review meeting of the joint district projects recently. The minister said that the state government is paying special attention to this project and efforts are being made to complete the joint district projects with the determination of the Chief Minister. The minister said that all the MLAs are overseeing various projects at the state level to complete these projects in the district. After this, he offered flowers to welcome the Krishna river. He prayed for the continuous water for irrigation to the farmers of the district. Earlier, the minister held detailed discussions with the engineering officials on water availability, power usage and other related issues. Engineering officials including SC Satyanarayana Reddy, EE Ravinder and MD Srinivas Reddy of SVN Company participated in the program.
