Minister inspects modern rice mill, discusses ways to increase production

Tamil Nadu: A government minister inspected the Modern Rice Mill on Wednesday and took a detailed review of its operations. During the inspection, he discussed with officials the mill’s production capacity, processes, and future efficiency measures.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, the minister stated that the mill currently produces approximately 100 metric tons of rice per day, resulting in a monthly production of approximately 2,500 metric tons. He stated that various aspects are being considered to further increase production capacity, and a detailed study has been conducted to identify areas where work can be accelerated.

The minister also stated that potential improvements are being explored at both technical and administrative levels to improve the mill’s operations and increase production. He directed officials to take necessary steps to make the production process more smooth and effective.

Several senior officials and public representatives were also present during the inspection, including District Collector S. Malathi Helen, MLA Thiagarajan, District Revenue Officer Ma. Ganesh Kumar, Revenue Divisional Officer Ramya, Chief Zonal Manager of Consumer Goods Muruganandam, Cooperative Department Coordinator Malavizhi, and other government officials were present. All officials participated in discussions on various aspects of the mill’s functioning and production.

However, an administrative lapse was also revealed before the inspection. The minister reportedly arrived nearly an hour late, forcing the Governor and other government officials to wait in the sun. This incident caused some discomfort at the venue, although the program later proceeded as usual.

Officials say the visit was primarily aimed at increasing production and strengthening the supply chain. Further steps are expected to be taken to improve rice mill operations and benefit both farmers and consumers.

According to government sources, more inspections of such units will be conducted in the future to improve production systems and strengthen the state’s food supply system.
