Miami Open: Harkaj saves five match points to win marathon match
Miami, (IANS) | Former champion Hubert Harkacz of Poland saved five match points to beat Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia 6-7(10), 7-6(7), 7-6(6) in three hours and 31 minutes to enter the next round of Miami Open Did.
The 26-year-old Harkaj, world number nine, won the Miami Open title in 2021 by defeating Janik Sinner. He won the round 32 match against Kokkinakis in what became the longest three set match of 2023.
Harkaj saved three match points in the second set and two match points in the last set.
Meanwhile, Felix Auger Aliassime defeated Tiago Monteiro 7-6(5), 7-6(8) in his Round of 32 match. He won this match in two hours 41 minutes.
Fourth seed Daniil Medvedev beat Roberto Carballes Bayana of Spain 6-1, 6-2 and second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece advanced to the next round after getting a walkover from Richard Gasquet of France.
