Tamil Nadu: A metro train from Chennai Airport to Wimco Nagar broke down mid-sentence due to a technical fault, causing inconvenience to passengers.
After Cyclone Titwa, which had been threatening northern Tamil Nadu, weakened and centered as a deep depression near Chennai, torrential rains that had been falling for the past two days began spreading across the city after midnight.
Heavy rains lashed Chennai and its surrounding areas on Monday morning, flooding low-lying areas and roads.
As a result, many people commuting to work are using metro trains instead of buses.
A metro train traveling from Chennai Airport to Wimco Nagar broke down mid-sentence due to a technical fault. More than 20 people were inside.
Many people were inconvenienced when the train got stuck in a tunnel after a power outage.
The technical fault has since been fixed, and metro trains are operating as normal.
A statement issued by the Chennai Metro Administration said, “The train was stopped between the High Court Metro Station and the Central Metro Station due to a technical fault. The fault was rectified and regular operations resumed at 6:20 am.”
