Bhubaneswar: A mega crime syndicate has been busted by Commissionerate Police on Monday and as many as six people have been arrested. This has been a major success for the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack twin city Commissionerate police.
According to reports, as many as five hi-tech pistols have been seized from their possession. The gang was active since 2014 said the police in a presser held earlier today. They were also wanted in two murder cases that took place in Kendrapara and Khurda.
Further reports said that, the gang used to get guns and revolvers from outside states and sell them across various parts of Odisha. The special squad of Commissionerate laid a trap and arrested them. They were involved in all kinds of crime such as sand mafia, contaract killing, supari killing and extortion money (Dadabati).
The crime syndicate was involved and was the mastermind in the Kendrapara kidnapping, murder and setting on fire case. Earlier today, as a mark of major success for the Malgodown Police Station in Cuttack city of Odisha, a gang of dacoits were arrested. This gang was accused of looting as much as Rs. 5 lakh from the silver city.
The gang consisted of three people all of whom have been arrested by the Malgodown Police today. As much as Rs. 3 lakh in cash has been recovered from the dacoits arrested from Cuttack by the police.
Further it is worth mentioning that another person accused of looting money and mobile phones from Jagatpur area has been arrested by the Jagatpur police today. A lot of cash and mobile phones has been recovered from his possession.
Recently on July 27, as many as two Bawariya gang members had been arrested by the Commissionerate Police informed the Bhubaneswar DCP. The gang goes around around the country looting and then escaping by train.
The members of the gang generally steal a bike from the city and then snatch chains with the help of the stolen bike. After a few days of looting, the member escapes from that city with the loot.
The mastermind of this gang the notorious robber, Ram Kumar of Kanpur Uttar Pradesh, had been arrested by the special squad of the Commissionerate police. From the mastermind the police seized a stolen bike with two gold chains.
Similarly, two more notorious robbers Akash Samal of Cuttack Sadar area and Sital Behera of Bidanasi area have been arrested by the special squad. Two gold chains have been seized from them. There are more than 14 cases in their name in various police stations in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar.
