Madhya Pradesh: A major medical scam has emerged in Madhya Pradesh, with worrying reports of supply of substandard shoddy medicines in government hospitals. The matter came to light when doctors in Indore found that the medicines given to patients were ineffective. Lab tests confirmed that several medicines, including life-saving drugs, antibiotics and even basic supplements like calcium, vitamins and ORS, were substandard shoddy. The Madhya Pradesh Public Health Service Corporation has stopped distribution and started recalling the bad medicines. Meanwhile, the Congress has accused the government of corruption and doctors are demanding a thorough investigation.
