Mayor Meenal Chaubey’s innovative initiative to solve the problem of waterlogging in Raipur city
Raipur. To solve the problem of waterlogging in the capital city Raipur Municipal Corporation area, the first citizen of the capital city, Mayor Meenal Chaubey of Raipur Municipal Corporation has taken an innovative initiative. Mayor Mrs. Meenal Chaubey today invited former mayors and former chairpersons of Raipur Municipal Corporation to the Municipal Corporation Headquarters Mahatma Gandhi Sadan and asked for suggestions from them to solve the problem of waterlogging in the city based on their experience.
Mayor Meenal Chaubey asked for suggestions from former mayors and former chairpersons based on their experience to solve the problem of waterlogging in Raipur city. The Mayor said that there is a need to do concrete work by making a concrete plan to solve the problem of waterlogging in Raipur. So that the problem of waterlogging in the city can be solved and the citizens can get relief. Water should not enter anyone’s house or shop during heavy rains. The Municipal Corporation is determined to work by making a plan by rising above the spirit of party politics by participating together with everyone. It may take some time to make a plan, but the work done should be concrete. The Mayor thanked the former Mayors, former Chairpersons, former Leader of Opposition for coming to the Municipal Corporation and giving suggestions and said that their suggestions are important for solving the problem of waterlogging.
Commissioner Vishwadeep said that the water of the wards of Zone 4, 5, 6 etc. goes to Chingri Nala. The Municipal Corporation has started efforts at its own level to drain the water of Ring Road, VIP Road. So that the citizens do not face any inconvenience due to the problem of waterlogging in the capital city. For this, the work of immediate solution to solve the problem of waterlogging has been started by the Municipal Corporation from a technical point of view.
Former Mayor Ejaz Dhebar praised the initiative of Mayor Meenal Choubey. He said that now is a good opportunity that by preparing a plan and starting the work from now, the problem of waterlogging in areas like Professor Colony can be solved technically. Waterlogging in Arman Nala area can also be removed. For this, he gave the responsibility to the Additional Commissioner and suggested to form a separate department and work on planning from now onwards. Ejaz Dhebar said that if this work is done well, then the initiative and work of Mayor Meenal Choubey should definitely be appreciated. Former Mayor Pramod Dubey suggested a solution to remove waterlogging in the central and inner areas of the city and drain the water till Chingri Nala.
Former Mayor State Women Commission President Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak said that for this, she had given the responsibility of cleaning to the Deputy Commissioner, ZHO level officers during her tenure. Which she did with the entire cleaning team and the problem remained under control. For this, teams should be formed to solve the problem of waterlogging in Raipur city and work should be done by making a plan. So that a quick solution can be found for everyone in the future.
Former Chairman State Civil Supply Corporation Chairman Sanjay Srivastava said that online action of the identified area of waterlogging is good but what is the practical condition of the drains and whether they are coming in private land or government land, by taking information about this, the responsibility of organizing the drains and providing better drainage system will have to be fulfilled.
Former Chairman State Iron Craftsman Development Board Chairman Praful Vishwakarma said that the officers will have to understand this responsibility and be aware that no work is completed by just issuing tenders. Necessary measures will have to be taken by taking information of the area so that in practice, water can be drained easily everywhere in the city. In posh colony areas like Samata Colony, water drainage management will have to be done in effective ways by being alert and aware of the action going on to solve the problem. Former Leader of Opposition Subhash Tiwari suggested that by running a campaign in the entire city, the drains will have to be freed from illegal encroachment. For this, the necessary action has to be taken soon by demarcating the drains as per rules so that the water drainage system can function smoothly in the city which is obstructed due to the narrowing of drains due to encroachment.
