Mayor candidate reached to buy nomination with 20 thousand coins

Jagdalpur. Voting for urban body elections in Chhattisgarh is to be held on February 11. The nomination process for the post of mayor and councilor has started from January 21. Meanwhile, a shocking incident took place in Jagdalpur Corporation. Here, an independent candidate Rohit Singh Arya, who came to fill the nomination form for the post of mayor, deposited the fee of the form by giving 20 thousand coins of 1 rupee, counting which made everyone sweat. Rohit Arya has deposited the fee of the nomination form in a packet filled with 20 coins of one thousand each, which took 5 to 6 hours for the election staff to count.

When the independent candidate was asked why he wanted to pay the fee of the form with coins, his answer was even more shocking. He said that he is associated with a social group called Public Voice.

This group had run a campaign in the city in the name of ‘1 rupee- 1 vote’, in which 20 thousand coins have been collected. He further said that we did not want to change the blessings of the people given in the form of Rs 1, hence we have brought the same coins to buy the nomination form.
