Mastermind of gold smuggling brought to India from UAE

Delhi: Security agencies have arrested Muniad Ali Khan, wanted for smuggling gold in the country, from UAE and brought him to India. Muniad Ali Khan was caught by the NIA at Jaipur airport in 2020. Khan was the mastermind in the gold smuggling case. The NIA had registered a case against him under UAPA. During the investigation, it was found that the main conspirator was Muniad Ali Khan. He had planned to smuggle gold bars from Riyadh city of Saudi Arabia to India. After the smuggler was caught at Jaipur airport, the NIA registered an FIR and started the search.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed about the incident on Tuesday. According to the agency, “The National Investigation Agency (NIA) seized smuggled gold bars at Jaipur International Airport on 3 July 2020. An FIR was registered on September 22 and investigation was done in this case. Investigation revealed that Muniyad Ali Khan had conspired with several people to smuggle gold bars from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to India and delivered them to smugglers. In this case, the NIA had filed a chargesheet in its special court on 22 March 2021. On the request of the NIA, the CBI had issued a Red Corner Notice against him from Interpol on September 13 this year and alerted all law enforcement agencies globally to search for him.

The CBI got a big breakthrough in this case when the agency got information that Muniyad was in the UAE. The CBI immediately arrested Muniyad in the UAE with the help of local agencies and Interpol. He was handed over to the NIA at Jaipur airport.
