The municipal corporation has recommended that the Khedki Daula police station register an FIR against the private landowner where the scrap yard was operating. The authorities have also urged the Pollution Control Board to identify the source industries responsible for the waste and impose fines ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs50 lakh.
In addition, the civic body has requested the HSIIDC to conduct a joint inspection with the Pollution Control Board and cancel the ‘Consent to Operate’ licences of companies from where the scrap originated.
Hitendra Kumar said although the fire was intense, no casualties or injuries were reported.
He also directed officials to identify and shut down other illegal scrap warehouses operating in the Municipal Corporation Manesar area to prevent similar incidents.
The incident highlights growing concerns over illegal scrap yards and industrial waste dumping in Gurugram, which pose serious environmental and fire safety risks.
