MARGAO: Huge crowd gathers at ‘The Great Wall of Shri Ram’ in Sanvordem
Margao: Before the consecration ceremony of the idol of Ramlala in Ayodhya, there is an atmosphere of devotion among the devotees of Ram in Sanvordem. Not only is he holding the Ram Bhakti in his arms, but he has also literally carved it on a retaining wall along the Sanvordem-Capxem road.
They like to call it “The Great Wall of Shri Ram”. The figures of Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Sita and Hanuman are painted on the structure.
While fine arts students contributed to creating the figures, the rest of the frame was put up for public participation.
Community participation has promoted the spirit of devotion.
“I painted the letters ‘Shri Ram’ in one of the spaces given in the image, and what a feeling it created within me! It was a divine experience,” said one of those who stood in the queue to get brushes to create their paintings.
