When the attack started in Kotruk, immediately the IGP, DIG and SP and other police forces reached the area to tackle the situation. Retaliatory firing and search operation was carried out along with the Army and central forces. The PHQ also directed all senior formations and all district SSPs to remain alert, alert all forces in their respective districts and conduct joint operations in coordination with the central forces. All forces in all districts of the state remained in alert mode throughout the night. It said joint operations were carried out in border areas between Churachandpur and Kakching districts, Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts, Kangpokpi and Imphal West, Kangpokpi and Imphal East and Kakching and Tegnoupal.
Such proactive measures taken by the police and central forces based on solid intelligence averted many untoward incidents on Monday night. Two policemen were also injured in Monday’s incident.
