Man kidnapped from Jamshedpur recovered from West Bengal, 5 arrested

Jamshedpur. A man kidnapped from Jamshedpur was rescued after a joint operation by the police of Jharkhand and West Bengal. Five people have been arrested in this connection. Jamshedpur SSP Kaushal Kishore told in the press conference that the kidnapping incident took place over a dispute over money transaction. Niranjan Das, a resident of Birsanagar zone number-1 of Jamshedpur, had taken a loan of Rs 1 lakh a few days ago from Chaman Khan, a resident of Purulia, Bengal.

On Thursday evening, Chaman Khan and some people from West Bengal reached Jamshedpur and forcibly took Niranjan Das with them. The police became active as soon as information about the kidnapping was received. With the help of Bengal Police, kidnapped Niranjan Das was freed by conducting a raid in Baghmundi of Purulia district. Apart from the main accused of kidnapping, Doctor alias Chaman Khan, Sandeep Rai, Tapan Rajak, his wife Karuna Rajak and Vikas Singh Mura have been arrested. All of them were sent to jail in judicial custody on Friday.
