Tamil Nadu: In a crackdown on corruption in Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu, the police administration has dismissed a female police constable from service. This action was taken following an incident in which the constable allegedly accepted a bribe from a woman seeking treatment at the hospital.

According to reports, Ranipet District Superintendent of Police B.S. Muralikumar took this drastic step after conducting an immediate investigation, considering the seriousness of the matter. The dismissed constable has been identified as Kalpana, who was responsible for reporting police duty-related matters to the police department at the Vallaja Government District Hospital.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Vallaja Government Hospital, where a woman had arrived for treatment after being injured in a family dispute. During treatment, when the incident was reported to the relevant police station, Constable Kalpana allegedly contacted the victim.

It is alleged that the constable contacted the woman on her mobile phone and asked her to send ₹300 to a specific UPI or GP number. This amount was allegedly transferred to the account of one of her relatives. The victim, believing the allegations, transferred the money to the number provided.

As soon as the matter came to light, she complained to the relevant authorities. Following the complaint, a departmental investigation was initiated, and the preliminary investigation indicated that the allegations were true.
