Mainagpalli car accident: First accused Ajmal gets bail

Kerala: The High Court has granted bail to Ajmal, the first accused in the murder of a scooter rider in Mainagpalli. The prosecution requested that Ajmal should not be granted bail, as he is charged with intentional murder. But the defendant argued that this section does not apply in the case. The second accused in the case, Dr. Srikutty, was earlier granted bail by the Kollam Principal Sessions Court. The court had accused Srikutty of incitement.

On September 15, 2024, scooter rider Kunjumol (45) died after being hit by the car in which Ajmal and Srikutty were traveling. The case was that Ajmal, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, deliberately crushed the housewife and killed her. As soon as the car collided, the locals asked the driver Ajmal to stop the vehicle, but he drove the car over Kunjumol’s body at high speed and fled. After hitting Kunjumol, the vehicle crashed at another place. Ajmal fled from there. After this, the police took the boy sitting in the car into custody.
