Mahua liquor distillery busted in the forest, excise department raided
Raigarh. In the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, as soon as the Model Code of Conduct was implemented in the district, major action has been taken against illegal liquor by the Excise Department under the direction of Collector and District Election Officer Shri Karthikeya Goyal. Excise sub-inspector Jitesh Nayak, in-charge of Gharghoda, received information from the informer that illegal liquor was being manufactured in large quantities in the forest of village Saraipali police station Kapitpathra.
As soon as the information was received, the Excise Sub-Inspector along with his team reached the top of the jungle mountain in village Saraipali, where two burnt furnaces were found and three plastic jars each filled with 10 liters of Mahua liquor, three plastic jars each filled with 5 liters of Mahua liquor, one plastic box. 50 liters of Mahua liquor filled in a total of 95 liters of Mahua liquor filled in eleven blue colored plastic containers with 100-100 kg of Mahua Lahan (fermented wash) in each, a total of 1100 kg of Mahua Lahan was recovered. Seeing the party coming, the accused ran into the forest. All the material was seized on the spot and an unclaimed case was registered under the Excise Act.
