Business: Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is going to unveil its much-awaited 5-door SUV, the Mahindra Thar Rocks tomorrow. The Thar Rocks retains the iconic design of its predecessor model while getting notable updates, such as a redesigned grille, new C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) around the signature round headlights, new alloy wheels and revisions to the rear quarter glass. The wheel arches have also been redesigned, appearing more square than the current Thar model. In terms of interiors, the Thar Rocks offers more space for rear seat passengers thanks to the extended wheelbase. With the introduction of a dedicated rear door, passengers will no longer have to climb in from the front, increasing convenience and access. Additionally, the extended design is expected to provide a larger cargo area at the rear.
This SUV from Mahindra & Mahindra has received an updated feature list to establish it as a more family vehicle. The interior now includes a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a larger infotainment screen than the current Thar. In addition, the Thar Rocks will come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which will further enhance safety and convenience. While official details are yet to be confirmed, it is expected that the Mahindra Thar Rocks will offer two petrol engine options and one diesel engine, with both manual and automatic transmission options. The engines are expected to have slightly different tuning than the current Thar. The Mahindra Thar Rocks price will be revealed at the time of its launch on August 15. However, according to HT Auto, it is expected to be positioned as a more premium offering than the Thar 4×4, which starts at around ₹ 14.30 lakh (ex-showroom). As a result, the Thar Rocks starting price is expected to be between ₹ 15 lakh and ₹ 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom), potentially going up to ₹ 19 lakh for the top-end variant.
