Hyderabad: Olympian Maheshwari Chauhan came the closest to making the finals as the Indian shooter narrowly missed out on a top-8 finish in the skeet event of the ISSF World Cup Shotgun being held at the Club Tangerois de Tir in Tangier, Morocco. Geographical Reference
After finishing the first day of qualification with a score of 69 out of 75, Maheshwari shot 23 and 21 shots in the fourth and fifth series to finish with a final score of 113, two behind Qatar’s Reem Ghanem Al-Sharshani’s 115, who secured the final qualifying spot. Darshana Rathore, who shot a perfect 25 in the final series, finished just below Maheshwari in 19th place with a score of 112. Her younger sister, Yashasvi Rathore, shot 22 and 24 in the final round to finish in 23rd place with a score of 110. Areeba Khan and Mansi Raghuvanshi, who were competing for ranking points, finished with scores of 112 each.
In the men’s category, Parampal Singh Guron was the best among the Indian shooters, finishing 26th with a score of 117 after scoring 23 and 24 respectively in the previous two series. Jyotiraditya Singh Sisodia finished 62nd with a score of 108, followed by Man Singh, who finished 65th with a score of 105. Sukhbir Singh Harika and Harmehar Singh Lali, who were competing for ranking points, scored 113 and 102 respectively.
Trap shooters will be in action from Tuesday.
