Mahesh Babu recalls his first day spent in the jungles of Varanasi

Mumbai: In an interview with Discussing Film, Mahesh Babu recalled the first day of shooting in the wilds of Africa for “Varanasi.” This major film was shot in areas like Kenya’s Masai Mara during the wildebeest migration season in 2025. SS Rajamouli and the team had to get out of vehicles and walk directly among real wild animals for the scene, instead of relying on VFX.

Guntur Karam admitted he was hesitant and a little scared, even though he usually takes the lead. He heard Rajamouli asking Priyanka Chopra to walk ahead on the walkie-talkie. He found it amusing at first.

Describing it as an unforgettable experience, Mahesh said, “It was a little scary with all those wild animals, but after 5 or 10 minutes, you won’t see any cameras, you won’t see anyone. It’ll just be us in the middle of the wild.”

Varanasi will release in theaters on April 7, 2027.
