Maharashtra minister confirms Fadnavis took ‘revenge’ by toppling MVA govt: NCP

Mumbai (IANS) | The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday said a Shiv Sena minister’s statement corroborated the public claim of BJP leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that he had taken revenge by toppling the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in June 2022. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief spokesperson Mahesh Taapsee said Fadnavis had a few weeks ago spoken about how he took ‘revenge’ from MVA chief minister Uddhav Thackeray nine months ago and brought down his government.

He said that now, Health Minister Tanaji Sawant has also confirmed that 150 meetings took place since 2019 between Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde to hatch a conspiracy to bring down the MVA.

Sawant claimed in Dharashiv on Tuesday that he was angry because Thackeray did not give him a cabinet post in 2019 and started the first rebellion on 3 January 2020 on the orders of Fadnavis.

Sawant also accused Thackeray of rejecting the people’s mandate and forging alliances with the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party instead of forging an alliance with the BJP.

Sawant revealed how about 100 to 150 meetings were held by Fadnavis-Shinde over a few years, while he kept on meeting MLAs across the state to switch their loyalties.

Taapsee said that these shocking revelations make it clear that instead of helping people while the MVA government was fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and saving lives, the BJP was solely focused on toppling the Thackeray government. Was.

He further said that we along with (then) CM Thackeray, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Health Minister Rajesh Tope and others were determined to protect the lives of lakhs of people. The success of the MVA government against Corona has won accolades from all over the world. But what we didn’t realize was that some individuals with personal agenda were contemplating a political coup even during the pandemic.

He said that since the BJP could never defeat the MVA in a direct electoral contest, it conspired with Shinde to split the (original) Shiv Sena with the sole intention of toppling the Thackeray government and later he (Shinde) became the chief minister. .

Taapsee said that the MVA never believed that they (Shinde-Fadnavis) could be so power-hungry and even used the pandemic crisis for defections of MLAs, as revealed by Sawant.
