Mahadeepa atop Lingaraj temple on Maha Shivaratri to be raised at 10.00 pm in Bhubaneswar, know details
Bhubaneswar: The auspicious festival of Maha Shivaratri in 2025 falls on February 26. The timing for lifting the Maha Shivaratri Mahadeepa atop Lingaraj temple has been finalized. It will held at 10.00 pm.
This was done after a preparatory meeting at the Special Pradakhyna Bhawan. Discussions on putting floor carpet and deployment of 40 platoons of police was also done in the meeting. A special entry gate will be made for the Temple servitors and VIPs. The doors will be opened from 3.30 am and will remain open till 11 am on February 26. Similarly in the evening the door will open from 6.00 am and will be open till 12.00 am.
Arrangements for the smooth darshan of devotees have been done. Shoe stands, emergency fire services, live telecast, mobile health van and other related services have been taken care of by District Collector Chanchal Rana. Law minister Prithviraj Harichandan had chaired the meeting. In the meeting, Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, DM Chanchal Rana, ADM and others were present in the Committee meeting.
Thousands of devotees assemble at the temple every year on this occasion to witness the Maha Shivaratri Mahadeepa raising. While a lot of rituals get executed during the day-long observation of the festival, many devotees wait inside the temple premises. After the ritual is performed, they break their day-long fast.
