The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in three areas of Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur city after some people pelted stones at people participating in a religious procession. One person was injured in the incident that took place in Magaria area on Monday evening, a police officer said, adding that adequate security has been deployed in the area and an FIR has been registered in this regard. Shajapur Collector Riju Bafna, in a post on X, said that Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been imposed with immediate effect in three areas – Magaria, Kachhiwada and Lalpura. He said that the situation is currently peaceful and a case has been registered against the miscreants and further legal action is being taken. According to first information reports, seven-eight people stopped a group of people on Nag-Nagin Road near a mosque around 8.30 pm on Monday night when they were taking out a regular evening procession ahead of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. . The FIR was registered on the complaint of Mohit Rathod, who was involved in the procession. The FIR states that the persons asked them not to take out the procession from the area and following this a group of people gathered there. It said that people participating in the procession were beaten up and stones were pelted at them. The complainant claimed that he was also attacked with swords and stones were thrown from the rooftops. Following the complaint, the police registered an FIR against 24 identified people and 15-20 unidentified people. After the incident, Ujjain Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Goyal and Inspector General of Police Santosh Kumar Singh reached the spot. After the incident, Shajapur MLA Arun Bhimavad went to the local police station and demanded action against the accused.
