Ludhiana: A plantation drive was carried out at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University today to raise awareness about the importance of tree plantation under the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. The campaign was launched during the annual regional workshop of KVKs of Zone-1 (Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh). The campaign was inaugurated by Dr Sanjay Kumar, Chairman, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi.
Vice-Chancellor Dr JPS Gill emphasized that the campaign is not just about planting trees but about nurturing life and ensuring a greener future. The plantation drive was carried out in the presence of dignitaries and officials of the university. Director-cum-Estate Officer of Students Welfare Dr PS Brar said that 250 saplings would be planted with a focus on native species to support the local ecosystem and biodiversity.
