Ludhiana: Teenage girl committed suicide by hanging herself

Ludhiana: A teenage girl committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan in her house in Himmat Singh Nagar on Pakhowal Road. The teenager had gone missing a few days ago, and was recovered by the police on Friday morning. On Friday evening, while playing with her siblings, she had a quarrel with them. After which she took this step. The matter came to light when the deceased’s father returned home from work. He was shocked to see his daughter hanging from the fan. She was brought down and taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors referred her to the civil hospital, where she was declared dead.
The girl’s father told media persons that his daughter wanted to marry her girlfriend, but he was not agreeing to this due to fear of social boycott by the family. Three days ago also she had gone missing from home with her girlfriend. On Friday morning, the police found her sitting in the park. On Friday late evening, she had a quarrel with her three siblings over something. After this, she locked herself in the room and took this step. The deceased’s father said he had four children, three girls and a boy. The daughter who committed suicide was the second child. Dugri SHO Inspector Gurpreet Singh said the deceased was a school-going student. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway.
