Ludhiana: Protest held against withdrawal of electricity subsidy

Ludhiana: The Congress today staged a protest here against the rising prices of petrol and diesel and discontinuation of power subsidy in the state. They raised slogans against the state government and also submitted a memorandum to Payal SDM Kritika Goyal. Former MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha along with Doraha block president Gurwinder Singh Tinu, Khanna rural block president Harjinder Singh Ikolahi and Machhiwara block president Parminder Tiwari were also present on the occasion.

Lakkha said the government’s decision was a big betrayal against stakeholders like traders, farmers, employees and workers. “When all sections are under pressure of inflation, the recent hike is unjustified,” Lakha said. Party leaders and workers burnt an effigy of the state government and demanded immediate withdrawal of the fuel hike. Meanwhile, the District Congress Committee (LDCC Urban) in Ludhiana also staged a protest against the AAP government. LDCC Urban president Sanjay Talwar said, “The most affected are the middle class families, who are unable to meet the basic necessities of life.”
