Ludhiana: Four people arrested with 68 boxes of liquor

Ludhiana: In a joint operation with the Excise Department, Jamalpur police arrested four people for smuggling liquor in violation of the Punjab Excise Act. Sixty-eight cartons of different brands of liquor were seized from the accused, identified as Krishna Kumar of Ganesh Colony, Bhamian, Paramveer Singh of Haridwar, Uttarakhand, Ravi Singh of Indira Colony, Ludhiana, and Teerath of Cheema Chowk. Records revealed that a police team led by Pradeep Bawa of the Crime Branch had seized a tempo carrying a large quantity of liquor. The vehicle was parked outside Krishna’s house in Bhamian on Tuesday. Although Krishna and his companion could not produce valid documents for the liquor being transported in the vehicle, it contained 68 cartons of liquor.
